Bronwyn Galvin has been appointed Head of Digital Strategy at Quantium Media Solutions. Galvin joined Quantium in late 2011 from HOST, bringing with her 16 years experience in the digital field. She has also previously worked at agencies including the white agency and EuroRSCG.

Christmas has pushed online shopping to a new peak against offline retailers with clicks grabbing an unprecedented 8 per cent of Australian credit and debit card transactions over the first 15 days of December.

On some days the online market share has reached 10 per cent with online shopping dollars up 16 per cent over the same period last year. But the really bad news for 'bricks' retailers is that the clicks' market share surge has been magnified by offline sales being down 2 per cent, according to analysis of a major banks' card transactions.

The pace of change in media is only increasing, meaning the ability to predict the direction in which the market will head is becoming more and more difficult.

Some of the potential deals, mergers and listings, such as the public listing of Facebook (rumoured to be valued at $100 billion) will no doubt have a profound effect on the media market as a whole, but the extent to which, and exactly how it will, is still not clear at this time.
